Dear Media, Jon Huntsman is Not Happening. Get Over It.

Follow me on:

Mainstream liberal media plays a lot of dirty trickery during presidential elections, especially when it comes to torpedoing good candidates. Just ask Ron Paul.

But, when I came across Daniel Strauss' piece for The Hill today, entitled 'Huntsman could play NH primary spoiler,' I couldn't help but roll my eyes at the fuzzy math being used in support of the RINO they'd love to see win, former Chinese ambassador Jon Huntsman:

"His campaign has focused almost all their energies in New Hampshire and hope a strong showing in the state will give Huntsman the momentum for victories in later primaries."

While it is true Huntsman has spent a lot of time in the Granite State, his poll numbers aren't even within the margin of error for catching the third place title held by Texas Congressman Paul.

According to the RealClearPolitics average, former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney maintains the frontrunner lead he's had in New Hampshire with 36.7 percent, followed by former House speaker Newt Gingrich at 20.2 percent. Paul has 13.8 percent, compared to Huntsman's 8.8 percent.

While things look good in New Hampshire, Huntsman can't even beat the eventual slate of also-rans nationally, including Rep. Michele Bachmann or former Sen. Rick Santorum, and is in last place with 2.2 percent.

So, why would the media be so brazen to cast their lot behind the former governor of Utah for president? Maybe because he's a lot like the White House's current tenant.

Jon Huntsman is a Liberal

There is a reason most liberals I know have said they'd vote for Jon Huntsman, and it's a big one: Even before working with President Obama (a man he called "a remarkable leader"), he was pretty liberal.

During his time as Utah's governor, Huntsman demanded federal cap and trade laws in relations to his support for man-made global warming theories, gave illegal immigrants the right to drive in his state and enjoy in-state college tuition, and approved of the federal 2008 bailout.

As a candidate for president, it doesn't get much better.

In addition to sending Mother Jones and Huffington Post cooing after each debate, and receiving a glowing endorsement from Michael Moore, he refuses to play the game he'd have to play to win in 2012, instead batting around his Republican opponents on generally conservative issues, including the Creationism debate.

The media sure knows how to pick 'em.

I’m sorry but you are badly mistaken. Huntsman cut rates, defended the 2nd amendment, and created a market based health reform in UT. Your assessment is flawed regarding his “liberalness”. He is one of the most conservative candidates in the race.

Hahaha….Brandon. You’re such a dumbass. Really. You’re the pinnacle of stupidity in today’s politics. Everyone, this is Brandon: “Oh my, look how liberal Huntsman is!!! Why he got an endorsement from Michael Moore.”

Explain to me this, Brandon. Why would a liberal candidate support the Ryan Budget proposal (in full, including entitlement reform)? Why would he propose the largest tax cuts in his state’s history? Why would he sign the most harshest pro-life legislation that came across his desk? Why would he be loved (absolutely adored, might I add) by the NRA? Why would he implement an educational voucher program, one of the first to do so too? It’s not surprising you don’t like the guy in the first place, but why not have an honest analytical conversation rather than this piece of shit commentary you’ve got going on here. I mean seriously. I don’t know who you are, but are you like some kind high school student or something? This shit is atrocious!!

You see Brandon, it’s people like you I just can’t stand. People who throw out their brains and rather have an emotional orgy over who can scream the loudest and call Obama a Marxist. Go to fucking hell. Please. You’d do this world a lot of good. Peace out.

The GOP will need more than the their base in order to regain the WH. But there does not seem to be any forethought or strategy from the GOP. As if they have forgotten the display of the voting power of the democrats and independents for Obama.

Have you seen Romney’s facial expressions lately. He is losing his temper. Gingrich’s history will bite him.

So, go ahead and pick any other candidate than Huntsman. I will watch the GOP turn red when Barack Obama remains the president of the United States until 2016.

*shakes head*

Fools, you are.

A good bit of hogwash you’ve written there Brandon.

Jon is a strong candidate who is just void of the financial backing needed to catapult him onto the main media stage. Many reporters can see this and so are giving him some extra coverage to give Americans a fair chance to decide whether they have missed out on a potentially good leader.

Jon Huntsman is about as conservative as Mitt Romney. I am sorry, but I cannot in good faith support someone who takes such laughable positions on global warming, illegal immigration as he does. Not sure where any of you are from, but come to Texas. Come to our borders. See exactly what it is I’ve seen. We cannot afford to elect a former governor who thinks the best way to fight illegal immigration is the status quo.

Good for Ron Paul skipping the Trump debate (and Huntsman too). I’m glad someone will take a stand for what they believe in.

Hi Brandon –

“Jon Huntsman is about as conservative as Mitt Romney.”

Actually, he has been a more consistent conservative than either Mitt or Newt.

“I am sorry, but I cannot in good faith support someone who takes such laughable positions on global warming, illegal immigration as he does.”

That’s fine. You don’t have to support Huntsman. Just don’t misidentify him as a liberal. Some might consider that ‘laughable’.

“Not sure where any of you are from, but come to Texas. Come to our borders. See exactly what it is I’ve seen. We cannot afford to elect a former governor who thinks the best way to fight illegal immigration is the status quo.”

Oh, I don’t know. Barack Obama has deported almost as many illegal immigrants in two years as George Bush managed to deport in eight. Illegal border crossings are down to about 20% of their 2005 peak. The border has never been more difficult to cross, as evinced by the bodies that are continuing to be pulled out of the desert.

BTW, are you a one issue voter on illegal immigration?
