A Profile of Michael J. Verno

By Justin Quinn, About.com

Michael J. Verno
Michael J. Verno believes strongly in the tenets of conservatism, especially those that stress a small federal government and the ability to exercise free enterprise. He considers himself more of a fiscal conservative than a social conservative and is a supporter of the Objectivism philosophy propagated by Ayn Rand.

Verno has an eclectic range of scholarly interests, from Renaissance literature to cinema and comics. He earned a bachelor’s degree in English in 2006, graduating Summa Cum Laude from Millersville University in Millersville, Pa., where he now works as a graduate assistant in the English department. He is on track to complete his master’s degree in English in 2009 and is planning to pursue a Ph.D. Most recently, an article Verno wrote on Tolstoy’s The Death of Ivan Ilyich has been accepted for publication in The Explicator, a scholarly Journal.

Besides working for the university, Verno also works for the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board. He intends to be the best, most educated, floor sweeper currently working for the Liquor Board.

An avid writer and reader, Verno enjoys drinking red wine at home in the City of Lancaster, Pa.
