Question: Would Sarah Palin's family have been in the way of her duties as vice president?
Answer: Just the fact that the question was asked called a number of feminists to leap to her defense.

Calls of a double standard rang loudly against liberal-leaning reporters and pundits who publicly questioned whether Palin's status as the mother of five children somehow precludes her from holding national office. The same question wasn't put to Democratic nominee Barack Obama, who is the father of two daughters.

Palin has assured doubters that her husband and Alaska "First Dude," Todd Palin, would take over primary care of the four younger children after she and John McCain are elected.

During her time as governor, Palin was well-known for bringing her young children to work with her, setting up an infant swing in the corner for her newborn son, Trig, and letting her daughter, Piper, play under her desk in the governor's office. While there's no reason to believe she'd take her children with her to the White House, there's no reason to believe she'll have trouble focusing on her work as vice-president.
