On Tuesday night, President Barack Obama proposed raising the federal minimum wage a whopping 25% to $9/hour. Conservatives typically oppose heavy increases in the minimum wage for a number of reasons. Conservatives look at issues such as minimum wage from a results-oriented point of view. Does a certain law make sense and what actual results will be produced? Liberals like President Obama take a process-based approach where "intentions" are more meaningful than the actual results. Unfortunately, the process-based approach is easier to connect with the ever-increasing low-information voter. Let's take a look at some of the reasons that raising the minimum wage may be a bad idea and why conservatives oppose such measures.
