Place this one in the "ouch" category. After Obama's first term was ridiculed by conservatives as being the 2nd term of Jimmy Carter, Gallup drops the news
that his first term ratings are 3rd worst since World War II, and second worst if you only account elected Presidents. (Gerald Ford was never elected nationally). Being nestled just behind Carter might not be all bad news. Joining both Democratic President's in the under-50% approval club is Bill Clinton. Bill Clinton rebounded approval-wise thanks to the dot-com economic boom and his decision to actually work with Republicans. After Obama's inauguration speech on Monday, however, there seems to be little indication that Obama intends to take the Clinton bi-partisanship approach. And unless there is a new and unexpected economic "boom"
on the horizon (I mean, he is a real inspiration for business and economic risk-taking after all), Obama might be in a race to the total bottom of the list.
