Republicans in the House of Representatives have dug themselves a deep hole and have stepped into a lose-lose situation in terms of dealing with the"fiscal cliff"crisis. Their first big mistake was setting up the bill that set up the "fiscal cliff" back in 2011 without settling the tax question once and for all. That error led to a significant boost for Obama in the 2012 election as he was able to continue with his "tax cuts for the rich" rhetoric throughout the campaign. And now, we have reached a point where there are two scenarios. Neither are particularly good for the Republicans, and both are perfectly fine for President Obama. And the fight over spending cuts still awaits.
