The iPhone is a treasure trove of information, but the App Store through iTunes can be daunting. There are literally thousands of apps, and it's tough to know which are worth owning and which aren't worth a second look. After much trial and error (and lots of wasted money), here are the 10 best apps for conservatives.

Conservative Talking Points

Price: Free
Without a doubt, Conservative Talking Points is the single most informative app on the iPhone for political conservatives. This app includes 50 topics and more than 250 individual talking points, all arranged in alphabetical order from abortion to welfare. Perhaps the best aspect of the app is that the points are concise enough to be read through quickly, yet detailed enough to thoroughly cover the subject. In most cases, examples are provided to provide additional insight. CTP is an extremely intuitive app that will continue to provide information on topical issues as it is periodically updated.

Freedom 970

Price: Free
It might seem odd to see an app for a Portland, Ore. radio station so high on this list, but when that radio station offers the Sean Hannity, Laura Ingraham and Mark Levin programs for free, it begins to make sense. When those programs are able to be streamed in your iPhone's background, it makes even more sense. Nevertheless, the app does have room for improvement; for example, the podcast and text buttons were down during our review. Still, Freedom 970 is an excellent talk radio app. For those who want a little more (Rush, Michael Medved, Glenn Beck, etc.) and are willing to spring $2.99 for an app plus a subscription fee, check out "Talk!" by Centerus, Inc. For the price, though, Freedom 970 can't be beaten.

Economy

Price: $1.99
For anyone wanting an accurate depiction of the U.S. economy, this app offers it all. Economy includes economic snapshots from business, employment, and housing sectors, as well as glimpses into the indicators behind the nation's federal debt, gross domestic product, inflation, interest rates, and monetary aggregates. Time-based charts and graphs provide insight into the raw data and trend markers help users understand what's going well with the economy and what isn't. Elsewhere, users can examine each of the leading indicators from all of North America, including Canada and Mexico, as well as breakdowns of all international imports and exports. Information is published weekly or monthly, depending on when it is published.

Twitterrific

Price: Free
Even after buying and trying several Twitter apps, Twitterrific remains the best one, hands down. Although it doesn't contain a landscape mode, it still has a sleek, user interface with optional themes (the Raven is the best — with dark colors and backlit selections), intuitive icons allowing users to adjust tweet sizes, conduct a variety of searches and view followers, profiles, timelines, and direct messages. The landing page gives users the option to view public or personal timelines, nearby Twitterers and hashtag trends. At the top of each timeline is a banner ad, but it doesn't interfere with the user experience, because it scrolls up along with the rest of the timeline. It also features real-time updates.

Constitution for iPhone

Price: Free
Constitution for iPhone provides a simple interface for users looking to read the U.S. Constitution in its entirety. The app includes separate tabs for the Preamble, Articles (listed in order) and signers. The first 10 amendments making up the Bill of Rights are grouped together in one tab, while subsequent amendments are listed individually. After the 27th Amendment, all future "proposed" amendments are grouped together in one section. One of the most unique features of this simple app is the "note" tab on every page, which allows uers the opportunity to see which sections have been repealed or amended and where those changes can be found in the rest of the document.

NPR

Price: Free
One of the best apps in the iPhone Store, NPR has everything a user could ask for when it comes to political and enterprise coverage. The news section provides complete articles, and a full listing of every NPR program is included under the "program" tab with a button alerting the user to which ones are live. Another button then allows users to find a station that is streaming the program. This is extremely useful for navigating time zones. For example, East Coast users who may have missed a broadcast can take advantage of the time differential by finding a program in another time zone. Previously aired segments are also available, and the app provides a full list of every NPR station in the country.

Newser

Price: Free
Newser is an unconventional news app that provides constantly changing news stories in one long linear column. And while many of the stories are political in nature, they are balanced by just as much entertainment and breaking news coverage. The app is fully customizable, however, so any type of news can be eliminated from coverage and it can be called up a number of ways. Perhaps the best feature in this app is the "Off the Grid" section, which provides off-beat articles, weird news and enterprise stories. For a quick roundup of the day's events, no other application beats Newser.

Fox Business

Price: Free
Whether it's a market update you're looking for or the latest political news affecting the business world, FOX Business is an app many conservatives will appreciate. Each story bears the unique FOX perspective, and the ever-changing stock sheet provides a direct connection to Wall Street. The app's best feature, however, is its live streaming video of the FOX Business Channel available between 6 and 9 a.m. and from 12 to 1 p.m. EST. Can't watch at those times? No worries. Previously aired videos are available and open within the application for easy viewing. The app also features a "My Money" section, which allows users to track specific stocks through an in-app portfolio.
