John McCain has a tough choice to make, and rumblings are that he'll be making it soon.
Each running mate candidate has an upside and a downside, and whomever is chosen will have been vetted carefully by the McCain campaign since the political ideology and background of the new addition will be as closely scrutinized by the media as the candidate himself.
As the first presidential-level decision of the campaign, McCain's decision will send a clear message about exactly what kind of race he wants to run.
