Conservative Alternatives to the Republican Party

Friday July 11, 2008
2008 Libertarian Party presidential candidate and Former Republican Congressman Bob Barr

Because of the influences that some believe have conspired to dislodge the Republican Party from its conservative platform, the emergence -- and in some cases, the revival -- of right-leaning third parties has become pivotal to providing modern conservatives an alternative to the GOP. As with all good things in life, America's conservative movement is a complex tapestry of liberty and reserve, advancement and tradition, and adherence to morality in the face of an increasingly corrupt society.

Some conservatives believe that just because their beliefs fall to the right, they have no choices other than the Republican Party. This is not true. Although many believe that third parties exist simply to act in protest and provide no pragmatic solutions to undermining the present two-party system in the American democracy, membership in these organizations is on the rise.

This list of conservative third parties is a reflection of the spectrum of beliefs that comprise today's conservative movement.
