Feel like getting involved in the conservative movement? The best way to start is by understanding what it's all about and what it means to be a conservative.
To help educate those new to the conservative movement, this Top 10 list of conservative web sites, should provide the necessary information. This list has been around for awhile, but it has recently been updated and more sites have been added to it.
Once these other sites have been explored, check back and peruse the diffent kinds of conservatism to determine what best fits your particular ideology. Even those on the fence about being a conservative might find themselves drawn to a particular sub-movement once they understand them all.
Of course, there's no substitution for US Conservative Politics & Perspectives at About.com, but these other sites might provide added depth to important conservative issues and/or alternative viewpoints that are necessary to understanding these issues better.

As a lifelong member of the GOP I wish to express my utter disappointment in Senator McCain’s selection of Sarah Palin as his running mate. No matter how she may look, how she may talk, how she reminds you of your next door
neighbor, we cannot overlook the events of the last two weeks. In several interviews with the national media and including last night’s performance in the Vice Presidential Debates it is now resoundingly clear that she is simply not fit to become our Vice President. She has proven to that she does not know the fundamental issues in any depth, that she does not handle pressure well and that she is simply relying on rehearsed responses to just get by without looking like a train wreck. It is obvious that our party recognizes this as it seems she is being kept away from the media to avoid
further embarassment. Fellow Patriots, let me ask you this: If she cannot handle Katie Couric, then how in the world is she going to handle Osama Bin Laden, the anti gun lobby and the pro-choice movement? As Republicans it is time to take a stand against this nonsense. Sarah Palin is not only a threat
to the integrity of our dear Republican Party, but she is a danger to the very country and rights that we are fighting so hard to protect.There is still time to change our dangerous course and get a much more qualified and experienced candidate on our ticket like Tom Ridge, Collin Powell, Elizabeth Dole, Tim Pawlenty & Tom Coburn. Sarah Palin as our Vice President? In her words, “Thanks, but no thanks!”

If a man with a deplorable history of nutty lefty associations can get in as PRESIDENT, why not a pro-life, NRA member’, outsider who, despite being HATED by the media, has a history a rapid rise of promotion, and an 85% approval rating in her state. Prior to that, everything she toched turned to gold. McCain, although a great American hero; was brain dead throughout the debates and was unable to articulate the failure of Fanny/Freddie, banks, et al, and lay the blame where it should be; at Dodd’s, Barney Frank’s, and all the other dems .
Palin may not have anticipated the trick questions well enough, but one thing is for sure, she thinks clearly and she doesn’t care what anyone thinks. She has a nose for corruption. Don’t count her out in the future, even though the media was obsessed with battering her. They only love extreme left women; not those with standards of truth, sacrifice, and who love their children when it is not convenient. I suspect she will only use it for good in the future.
Well… I AM still totally disappointed that the “conservative” GOP would actually nominate a pseudo-liberal like McCaine to even run on a so-called “conservative” ballot!! Palin IS a conservative .. and unlike MANY, MANY of her male counterparts in the GOP, SHE IS NOT AFRAID to state her true beliefs!! (And I understand she is a pretty good marksman as well!!)

Sarah Palin says what she means and means what she says. she is true Amertican who loves her country. We need leaders like her in the conservative republican movement. Moderate conservatives will lose in 2010. republicans notice that there is only one party in the white house now.

Perhaps, if we bury them in band aids, we can get their attention, and stop the madness.
Go after the waste, fraud, abuse, and corruption in the present system, and we will have enough money for anything we want, or need.

I agree that Sarah Palin was not knowledgeable enough to run for Vice President, but I don’t think we lost solely because of her. I didn’t feel like we had a boat in the race. However, I know what appealed to the public about Sarah Palin. Honesty, integrity, and a record to prove it. Her ambition had not been for national politics or state politics either for that matter. She was just one of those concerned citizens that our Founding Fathers depended on to keep government in its place.
What if…………. What if Sarah Palin now has the interest and the will to make herself truly knowledgeable? Whether as a candidate or a grass roots motivator, I believe she can really make a difference…….maybe get rid of some of the apathy that has long smothered our country.
As for her performance on Katy Couric? Half the political pundits and Political Talk Show Hosts have admitted they wouldn’t have known the answer either. Katy didn’t know the answer until she dug deep to find something no candidate could answer about John McCain’s record except himself or his mother. Katy was out to kill her candidacy and though Sarah wasn’t ready/qualified, that was a dirty deal and lowered my estimation of Couric for good. I could have respected her if she had asked realistic questions about the issues at hand. I wish Sarah the best. Would I vote for her if she ran again? It depends on what she’s learned and how she performs, same as always. Still, I can’t help but think, “You Go Girl!” Her zeal, her honesty, her integrity, her desire for the responsible use of tax payer resources is what has America followng Palin……..pro or con. One last note, and perhaps the most inportant one, on Sarah: She is a Christian and practices it.
